The year couldn’t have started better for us: our dream came true, we managed to reach the finish line in our first Dakar together. But during those two weeks it became obvious that if we aim higher than 46th place (and why shouldn’t we) we need to make some serious decisions. We realised that we could be much faster and for that we examined different opportunities. The biggest milestone of our season – or we can say, of the team’s history – came at mid-season: in July we got the opportunity to start in one of the toughest and most prestigious rounds of the FIA World Cup, Baja Aragon with the Ford Ranger Dakar of South Racing, as team mates of WRC star Xevi Pons. The first impressions turned out to be positive on both sides, so this first cooperation was followed by two more, in Baja Poland and in Morocco Rally.
From this season we treasure a number of great moments we can be proud of, like our podium finish in Baja Drawsko, our first metres with the Ranger and an 8th time in the last special of Baja Aragon, and the category podium finishes in the Hungarian championship rounds. We just missed out on the overall podium in both the Hungarian championship and the Central European Zone Trophy, because we couldn’t take part in the last rounds of these series, but we are far from being disappointed.
We don’t go to the 2017 Dakar, and of course it’s a pity, but we look at this decision as some kind of investment in the future. The new vehicle is the most spectacular change around the team – but not the only one. Stay tuned for our news in the next months!
